Yasso 800's

Last night I read about the "Yasso 800's".  Bruce Gunther a neighbor from Cedar Hills told me about Yasso's before and I didn't quite get it.  He mentioned it to me several times and I was like...whaaat?  I totally get it now.  I think it is the key to my success in running the marathon in a certain time.  Here is the famous magical workout formula:

(Get ready, it sounds too good to be true, until you calculate how hard it is and how really it's just spadework...but WOW the formula seems to be right on)

In order to run a 3:50 marathon 3 hours 50 minutes

Run 800 (half mile) in 3 minutes 50 seconds  (this is a 7:40 mile--7 minutes 40 seconds!  UGH!!!)

Jog the next 800

-Run up to 10 of these and you are ready to run a 3:50 marathon.

So if your goal is 2:47 you would run 800's in 2 min 47 seconds.

It has been tried and tested.  The last Yasso should be run at least 10-17 days before race day.   Some start the workout 2 months before.  I'm going to start now.  I hardly ever run that fast.  Especially for half a mile.  I am starting next week...we will see how it goes.
