I've been slacking on logging my doings...I need to get more focused and into a groove again.
Can't believe it's July! My kids go back to school on August 10th! The summer is racing by...so to speak!
So, to catch up:
6/25 Long run 12 miles...5 with a group and 7 on the treadmill 8:30 pace
6/27 Easy run 3 miles no calculation of pace...ran around the lake with a grin/Massage (Seaworld!)
6/28 Speed Intervals 6 miles of 1600@7:30 pace with 800 jogs in-between. Cool. (walked for 1 mile)
6/29 Cycle with Carrie...killed myself and dripped sweat like a dog (PT-Physical Therapy)
6/30 Rest
7/1 Rest (PT)
I've come to a conclusion that I now need to get more serious about my weight training in order to counteract my back and neck pains. I can't decide wether I should sign up with a trainer or do pilates classes or what. I am going to compare prices and figure it out. I am leaning towards pilates because it's like weight training and stretching all at once. I definitely don't need any more tightness or stress in my muscles.
Another lesson learned is that I love ice. It's my new best friend. Gale my friend who played volleyball at BYU back in the day told me that every day her trainers would fill the whole hot tub with ice and they (along with the football players) would sit in it shivering for 20 minutes. Every day! Young athletes! It really hit me how important ice is for recovery. More important than I ever realized. There is something about it that relieves pain. It get's the inflammation down and allows the muscles to heal and relax.
Everyday... :/
