Lately I've had a shift in my focus. I am now listening to my body intently. If I have energy, I push my body to my limit. If I am tired, I rest. I don't stick to a rigid schedule. Although I am trying to get into the perfect groove of a workout schedule. I am trying different classes and trying different cross-training exercises. The reason I want to really get into other ways of training is that I know I am weak in many areas. I haven't lifted a weight in years. I get lower back pain almost every time I run hard. I also have neck issues as I have a couple of herniated discs. My right shoulder often gives me pain. So I am basically A HOT MESS. I realize I have so far to go to get in good enough shape in order to get faster and stronger. I joined LA Fitness because most of the gils I run with teach there. It makes me feel supported to get to know other runners. It's like an instant bond of camaraderie. I also go to a chiropractor who adjusts my back and neck weekly. He gave me some neck exercises to do three times a day. They have helped. I've noticed that in the last few months I have gotten stronger, and I enjoy running more and more. I love being able to feel no pain. I have had no knee pain and I have been having less and less pain everywhere else, but running is always hard. It's never easy. I really wish that I had a running coach. To push me. I love taking classes because I always feel like I'm being pushed. It's hard to push myself. But I do try--
My smart coach schedule:
Mon-Easy Run
Tues-Cycle
Wed-Speed
Thur-Easy Run
Fri-Weights/Curcuit Training
Sat-Long Run
Sun-REST
