Too Much

Weeks like this one are no fun.  I knew it would come though.  It always does.  Runners always talk about the days that don't go according to plan.  Speedwork did not go over well today AT ALL.  I was weak and sore from the start.  Ran into Carrie and Miko and they warned me that I was overtraining.  So I ran 3 miles and was done.  8:15 pace.  I knew I should skip today but I went to the gym anyway telling myself, DON'T WIMP OUT.  I knew inside that I was at the point of potential injury.  I wasn't feeling strong at all.  I dismissed my thoughts with "You are just not looking forward to speed!"  Looking back, I learned--13 miles of hills (for me) needs at least 2 days recovery.  I went hard on the bike yesterday because I felt great.  I needed to save my energy for running--not cycling!  I love going hard but I need to figure out my recovery needs and let myself rest.  So, I am forcing myself to cycle like a pansy from now on.  Giving myself permission to cheat on the bike.  No more going hard unless it's running my heart out.
