Spinning class w/ Erin today. She kicks major butt. The most fun of it was seeing her face. She was so happy and just loving it. Seeing her have so much fun ripping it up, made me have fun. It was a great workout but I also had a lightbulb moment seeing Erin. She seemed to pedal with her whole body, not just her legs. She was using power from her core. I talked to her about it and she said "You become the bike". After that and hearing the cycle shoe must have comments for the 50th time, I finally keyed in on why. The shoes make it so you can push and pull. Not just push--but also use your core. I have been burning my legs up with my cycling. I haven't been efficient at all. Duh....
Needless to say, I bought some cycling shoes today. Size 39. Shimano SPD's. I can't wait to try them out. Since the Ragnar is this coming Friday and Saturday, I won't be running at all this week. I will be cycling, doing yoga, maybe doing some light weights...but that's it.
I'm doing about 21 miles in the Ragnar. I am runner 12. I am the last runner! I'll do 8 miles through Lake Elsinore (Famous for Sky Diving in the US), 5.9 miles through Carlsbad (Where my cousin Chad is serving his mission right now), and then I'll be bringing it home 7 miles through Chula Vista and ending in Coronado on the coast! I am glad I am the last...I'll be tired from no sleep, but hey, it will be a blast. The sleeping arrangements will be scant at best--these are Mike's own words: "we will finish in lake elsinore, eat/sleep for a couple hours in temecula then our next sleep will be in carlsbad, at a golf course it looks like, so bring your sleeping bag and pad". Uh, I feel like I'm in college again...
And people wonder why I have NO DESIRE to run a Ragnar anything/anywhere? No sleep AND running? It's like my normal life here! :)
